What gets taken out

The percentage your processor takes. It is on their pricing page and on your payout statement — this page does not know it and will not guess.

The flat amount charged on top, if there is one. It barely matters on a large invoice and dominates a small one.

How far the rate you are given sits from the mid-market rate. Leave it empty if you are paid in a currency you hold — otherwise see the note below on finding it.

What this calculator does not do

  • It does not know any processor's rates, and there is no list of them here on purpose. Pricing changes, and it varies by country, by card type and by whether the payer is domestic — a table on this page would be wrong somewhere the week it went up.
  • It does not fetch exchange rates. Nothing on these pages talks to a server, and a rate cached at build time would be a rate from whenever this page was last published rather than from the day you were paid.
  • It does not decide whether to pass fees on to the client. Some contracts allow it, some jurisdictions restrict it for card payments, and it is a conversation rather than arithmetic.
  • It does not keep anything. Nothing is written to your browser's storage while you use it and nothing is sent to us, so the figures are gone when you close the tab. Press Create this invoice if you need a document: the invoice figure is handed to the invoice generator in this tab, cleared as soon as it opens, and saved there as a new invoice alongside any you already have.
